“It doesn’t look too good,” head coach Andy Reid said after the win, with concerns that Fisher tore his Achilles. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, those fears were confirmed, with the left tackle rupturing his Achilles in the game.

Is Eric Fisher playing in the Super Bowl?

After an Achilles injury took Fisher out of the AFC championship game, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Fisher will not play in the Super Bowl.

No official word has come from the Chiefs regarding Fisher’s injury.

Fisher, who has turned into a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ offense line, was a member of Kansas City’s Super Bowl-winning team last year. He was selected No. 1 overall in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Mike Remmers, who was filling in at right tackle for injured starter Mitchell Schwartz, slid to left tackle in relief of the injured Fisher. Remmers is expected to make the start at left tackle in Super Bowl 55, with Andrew Wylie playing right tackle.

Depending on the severity of Fisher’s Achilles injury, he could be sidelined for the start of the 2021 NFL season, as Achilles injuries typically take four-to-six months to heal.
