NBA All-Star voting 2021: How it works, fan vote end date, latest results & leaders

The NBA has not yet finalized all the details regarding the 2021 All-Star Game, but we do know how the voting process will play out.
Ahead of this year’s All-Star festivities, which will reportedly take place March 7 in Atlanta, the league has released the second round of fan voting results. A few big names are unsurprisingly at the top of the lists, but there are some eye-openers on the leaderboards.

MORE: LeBron has “zero excitement” for 2021 All-Star GameKevin Durant and LeBron James emerged as the leading vote-getters in the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively, earning more than 4 million votes each. Trae Young, who finished first among East guards in last year’s returns, didn’t even break the top five at his position. And then there’s the curious case of Klay Thompson, the No. 8 guard in the West despite being out for the season with an Achilles injury. You can check out the latest results below ahead of the 2021 All-Star break. How does the NBA All-Star voting process work? The fan vote accounts for 50 percent of the total vote to determine the starters for the NBA All-Star Game. Current players and media members split the other 50 percent. Each ballot consists of two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference. Reserves are chosen by NBA head coaches, and league commissioner Adam Silver chooses injury replacements if necessary.All-Star captains will then draft their teams from the eligible pool of players (starters in first round, reserves in second round). Captains will be selected based on which players earn the most fan votes in each conference. They are not required to draft based on conference affiliation or position.Key dates ahead of the 2021 NBA All-Star GameFan voting for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game ends Tuesday, Feb. 16, and the starting pool will be announced two days later on Thursday, Feb. 18.Fan voting ends: Feb. 16 at 11:59 p.m. ETAll-Star starters announced: Feb. 18All-Star reserves announced: Feb. 23All-Star Draft: TBD2021 NBA All-Star Game: March 7 (per multiple reports)NBA All-Star 2021 fan voting results (second round)Eastern Conference guards
